How to Recover WordPress Username or Password

Follow the steps below to recover WordPress Username and Password in the Localhost Xampp server.

Open Xampp then start Apache server and MySQL: Apache is the local server while MySQL is related to Database. So the two have to be active before you can proceed.

Open your browser and type ‘localhost’ in the URL section and press ‘enter’: This opens up the localhost dashboard.

Click on ‘phpMyAdmin’:

Then Select your database name: From the list of databases on the left panel, select the database associated with the WordPress website you are trying to recover its password.

After opening your database, scroll down and click on ‘wp-users’

Then locate your username and password. Note that, because your password is encrypted, it will not display in plain text. You will only see some mixed characters there as shown in the image below.

Click on ‘Edit’

click edit then reset wordpress username and password

Then under username and password, in the ‘function’ column, select ‘MD5’ : This is the option that encrypts the password. If you don’t select it, anyone who has access to your database can see your password.
